Math
Joel Dowker Throughout high school every student is required to take at least four math classes. Those classes depend on how well you did in math in middle school and the year before. Such as, if you were bad at math in middle school then you would probably be put in pre-algebra. Or if you were good at math you would be put in regular algebra, or higher if you took algebra in eighth grade. Then after that you go on with your mathematics through geometry and pre-calculus or higher if you were really good at math. While in high school I had to take four years of math classes, in which I had started at algebra and worked my way up to pre-calculus. The majority of stuff that I learned that will help me in my career later in life came from pre-calculus. In pre-calculus we had to learn some of the basics of trigonometry, which was learning the trig-functions and how to use them. So first off we learned the basic Sine, Cosine, and Tangent and how they went along with the triangles. Then after that we learned the inverse of the trig-functions which are Secant, Cosecant, and cotangent and how to use them. Since my chosen career in the future is to be an engineer these skills will help me quite a bit. Engineers mainly use trigonometry for almost everything they need math for. So the more I know about trigonometry the better. Then for in my house hold I can’t think of much that it will help me with. The only thing that it would help me with in my household would be to help me to make sure my angles are correct if I need to make trusses for my house. |
